Communications : The Creative Process, Ten Areas of Concern
Communication is the exchange of information among and between living organisms. Communications can happen through physical contact; through speech (patterned verbal behavior); and systematic language of shared meanings. Humans are special among organisms in their development of language, a system of learned symbols beyond the biological receptor (ears, eyes, touch) and vocalizations. Language greatly expands the diversity of meanings and values that can be expressed.
All of the Global PathMarkers can be considered communicators par excellence. By studying their lives we can hope to learn how both their message and how they communicated, were so effective.
The Future Is Now World Peace Celebration chose these ten areas of concern as a means of focusing attention on the interrelatedness of human activities that cannot be separated out from one another.
If your primary concern is communication then you will also be involved in art as a means of expression, education for learning how to learn (hear), technological advances like computers, cell phones, the web - all related to discoveries made through science methodology, and effecting how we form community. Peace and justice depend on being able to share meaning, as does our health and the environment we share.
