Educator’s Reference Desk- access AskERIC's 2,000+ lesson plans, 3,000+ links to online education information, and 200+ question archive responses. While the question answer service will no longer be active, The Educator's Reference Desk provides a search interface to the ERIC Database, providing access to over one million bibliographic records on educational research, theory, and practice.


Encyclopedia of Life-Imagine an electronic page for each species of organism on Earth available everywhere by single access on command.” (E. O. Wilson) Ultimately, the Encyclopedia will serve as an online reference source and database for every one of the 1.8 million species that are named and known on this planet, as well as all those later discovered and described. Encyclopedia of Life will be used as both a teaching and a learning tool, helping scientists, educators, students, and the community at large gain a better understanding of this planet and all who inhabit it. Currently (May 2007) draft species pages, showing some of the possibilities of the full system, are already available. They expect to have actual, authenticated species pages available by mid 2008.


The Long Now Foundation - was officially established in 01996 to develop the Clock/Library Projects as well as to become the seed of a very long term cultural institution. The Long Now Foundation seeks to promote “slower/better” thinking and to focus our collective creativity on the next 10,000 years.


NASA Science News- Inform, inspire, and involve with lesson plans and activities about breaking science news provided by the Marshall Space Flight Center.


National Geographic Home Page- takes you to the pages of magazine and into the field with television crews, also search an index of our publications, visit our library, meet recipients of our research grants, virtually visit to museum, take in a lecture.


National Science Foundation- an independent U.S. government agency responsible for promoting science and engineering through programs that invest over $3.3 billion per year in almost 20,000 research and education projects in science and engineering.


Public Broadcasting System- is the number-one television resource for classroom programming in the country. The TeacherSource pages include more than 1,300 free lesson plans, teacher’s guides and online activities -- all correlated to many national and state curriculum standards.


Scientific American- has tracked key changes in technology for the past 150 years, Each month the best of the current issue is online. Find many of favorite magazine features, as well as at least two major articles in their entirety, with links to the researchers and their work.


The Smithsonian Institution- an independent trust instrumentality of the United States holding some 140 million artifacts and specimens in its trust for “the increase and diffusion of knowledge”. The Institution is also a center for research dedicated to public education, national service, and scholarship in the arts, sciences, and history.

Every year, thousands of students and educators throughout the U.S. and around the world compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and cash awards.


The Video Project- the nation’s non-profit source of educational programs for a safe and sustainable world. From these pages you'll find over 600 programs that celebrate the natural world, examine threats to our environment, and offer solutions.
